Dark Souls: A dark path hailed by music

Before I begin this massive post, You should know that all of the videos are strictly story driven and music synced. Most people really don't like or understand this but to me it is beautiful. As of now, I consider myself to be very good at these videos and I am curious about what you think. So... lets start this adventure.

The first video in this series, well... starts at the beginning. Dark Souls has a horrifying, adventurous, will breaking, and dark story line. This greatly intrigued me. This was the perfect game to record and add my unique vision. Music would have to match the dark theme but show what I needed it to. The choice of Closure - Asking Alexandria was purely my own. I kinda made it fit the segments but in the end it came out great.

I'm guessing after watching that, you are either on board or you are clicking off the page lol. Well I do hope you stay.

"Cometh now to confess or to accuse... for indeed all sin is my domain!" From start to finish this video had my complete attention. The song I chose was a dear favorite of mine and I have always wanted to use it in a video. The thought of messing it up or making myself look amateurish was heavy on my mind. Once I started editing, everything flowed ever so nicely. Summoning Knight Solitaire was a great help and I defeated the Gargoyle first try. Knowing how two of them were from once beating the game, I flipped out and threw my controller in exasperation. That was the second greatest thing I have done in this game.

...But that damn Capra Demon!!! Every time I play through this wonderful game, he rips all the fun out! That boss is such horseshit! Once you beat him, I think it gets you ready for whats next. This may be the hardest game I have ever beaten.

Posts will be made soon describing the videos

The GoPro Series: Blue Hole

I am getting better with my editing software and with my GoPro. The next little adventure we all had was in Spring City, TN on the mountain waters. There is a very nice rock that everyone likes to hangout at. We had a guide and moonshine, fun was just waiting! This is a pic of the rock, and btw the video and pic do not do the rock justice.

I just found the rock on Google Maps, so you can find it too!

As for the video it was simple, slow motion jumps, great music, and awesome friends!

There is more in the works... :) ENJOY

The GoPro Series: Splash Country

Again I made my way up to Gatlinburg to visit Splash Country! With GoPro in hand (tightly secured) we began our awesome weekend. Right from the gate we hit all the fast rides. With the GoPro being waterproof but never tested, I carefully placed it in the Lazy River. Seeing that it still worked... It was game on! We hit every ride, slide, and pool there. This video emerged, thanks to my amazing editing skills, MA ha ha ha!

The GoPro records in 720p at 60fps, very nice!

I was limited to a 4g fash card then so I had to be choosy about what I recorded.

The Epic Journey into Dragon's Dogma

Where to start on this Epic game and it rich world. I yes, the difficulty. Dragon's Dogma has a very unique play style that reminds me of Dark Souls. That being said I hold this game in very high regards. The story line is a bit spread out. Its tough to keep up with without multiple play-through. It is recommended to play-through at least twice. It opens up a very tough and rewarding boss fight that is available from the beginning. They did the player a great favor doing this. Here is my video of this boss fight.

The music was an obvious choice for this video. Six Feet Under has a dark and demented song called Seed of Filth. The song describes decay and maggots which suits this video well. Take this video as a tutorial or music video but it was fun to make it.

The other reason this game stands out is the frequent boss fights, and we all know we love boss fights! The map allows free roam, which can get you in trouble. Some of those troubles come in the form of Chimeras, Ogres, Golems, Hydras, Griffins, and Dragons.

I recorded some of the rare and troublesome encounters along my journey. Here is a fight that caught my eye.

Two Cyclops are more than enough!

The Griffins are very tough but teach you a lot about the game and your character. It is a visual feast to see the animation of the Griffin in action and makes for a spectacular fight. I recorded a epic fight that lasted over   two hours from start to finish of the mission. I wrapped it up to around 35 mins and I'm pleased with the outcome.

There is a special guest that can join you, found out later...

Other than ugly creatures and monsters, this game hosts undead that are not easily beaten. The worst of them is the Wraith! Yes, the Wraith is poised high and summons countless undead to throttle you. Sunny Jim I tell you it is a woeful tactic. I have two videos that show the Wraith in action.

The next is my first music video

The music in this video is from Hollywood Undead, befitting huh!

The GoPro Series: Raptor 660R pt.1

Thanks to my awesome girlfriend I get to record this summer with my GoPro Hero 3 White Edition. I must say i'm impressed with the quality and the simplicity. The easy ability to attach it to almost anything spawns creative ways to use it. GoPro Cineform Studio was a nice touch for new users. Woodman Labs really out did themselves and I am a happy fan.

As for what I use my GoPro for well take a look...

That's what I have been up to photo wise.

As for video, which is the best feature, I have posted one video on YouTube so far but there is far more planned. This video is basically a test since I can't attach the GoPro to what I want yet.

The first on the Raptor is me and damn do I look like a noob. I about flipped it on the turn. The second is the owner, my cousin, and he heads off by himself for a little fun with the camera.

Extraterrestrial and the best of the best

Brothers and sisters, gather round and witness something spectacular. Come and see the greatest Halo 4 music video to ever be placed on YouTube to date! I kid you not, this video will drop jaws, stop hearts, and inspire your imagination. This time the songs name is E.T. (KATFYR Dubstep remix). This song was downloaded from www.uDubstep.com now I know that the website is having issues but honestly it works. I seent it! Anyways, it was amazing to see such talent from a beloved genre. The song is a remix and a damn good one at that. As I sit here today with sparks in hand, I tell you that this video is my crowning achievement. better will come but till then I would love for you to give your attention to Extraterrestrial. Now just because I say that this is the best of the best, doesn't mean that I could do no better. I dare someone to try. Send me the video if they do. I will let you see this awesome video and let you decide for yourself. Here it is...

Right after the title Extraterrestrial, there is a bass drop, and damn is it mean. It may be the very reason why I chose this song. The Saw synced up nicely to the DJ's sounds. Every banshee bomb hits a snare hit. The flood assassination was timed ever so perfectly with a drop, god I'm good. I put a lot of melees in this video... for your enjoyment. The slow part in the song was caressed by slow motion assassination and melee clips. After I speed things up profusely to match the music. Good people of Google and Blogger, I give you my best and wish you the best! Thank You.

Noize Turns Beggars Into Monsters

Wow, I put my heart and soul into this video. As proud of it as I was, everyone had deaf ears. The best I "had" shhh... to offer was just shunned by friends and family. Not one fuck was given and i'm not letting that get me down. I ask you reader to watch this video and comment honestly what you thought. I am so close to tapping into spot light on my videos. All I need is one video! I swear its the damn copyright penalty that is screwing me over. Well I digress, this video has music from Skrillex... yes you heard right HATERS! The song is Scatta (feat. Foreign Beggars & Bare Noize) and shit it is fast. My finger hurt after this one. This song is amazing and close to my Dubstep heart. Everyone should hear this song once in their lives, it changed mine.

As the video starts you will hear my friend Patrick trash talking kids over Xbox Live, something fun to add. All the red colored letters are spelling MONSTER... the more ya know! The Mech Suite slamming its feet down works well with Dubstep's below 90 hertz bass. It was also the first video I synced an Assassination with a "drop", something I still do. The " da dadadada da" in the song I used screen shots to make it faster, a method I have perfected. I also got 2 Killtaculars in this video. The glitchy sounds in the song I did something special with. First one I highlighted the Killtacular icon with an arrow pointing right, and the right says "GET ON MY LVL". What i'm not cocky!? Second one I was assassinating someone and put CANNIBALISM over top cause it did look like was about to eat them.

Don't listen to Mr. Cheezle, Just Lose It!

The name Mr. Cheezle is from "Grandma's Boy". I guess I had just got through watching it or something but the name stuck. The music I chose for this video is "Just Lose It" by Eminem. Hard to say why but it must have been the solid beat. This video was edited way better, but somehow lacked the power to keep your attention. As of right now, it has a pathetic 3 views since being posted. Having said that, I put a lot of work into it. The timing was spot on and the crazy Peewee Herman voice Eminem does was synced very well with the clips. Plus, its hard to see at full speed but I managed 3 kills with one plasma grenade. Overall I feel happy about this one and hope you do to. Give it a try and please "Like or Subscribe"

Special note: This was the first video I did a custom icon for and that has helped me a lot.

A Century of Murder with Paper Planes

My next video from Halo 4 was (.Y.) BOOBS IN SPACE! jk, it was A Century of Murder with Paper Planes. The song I picked out, Paper Planes, was remixed by "This Century" on the Punk Goes Pop, vol 3 album. The catchy hook in this song made me think it would go well with Halo. Still being green behind the ears, I felt that it came together well and synced on occasion. We all know that you deserve better. With out further a due...

I have to admit that this video was my first success. I am proud of it and hope that you liked it.

Oh Halo, you silly little drug

Halo 4
Ever since Halo 2, the multiplayer has had my attention. The addictive game play and bright color scheme always out-shown the rest. When 343 Studios took over rights for the Halo series, shit got real! The game was revamped and the multiplayer got due changes made that surpassed my expectations. With my Hauppauge at the ready, I set my sights on Halo once again. With the game being fast and explosive, I thought that music would be best to add to the videos. Halo 4 runs at a smooth 60, and works beautifully with MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video format. The only concern with my videos was the music. I always start with the song first and get inspired from there.  I chose to focus on the kill shots for my first video. After every edit I quickly learned that Halo would be a fickle-bitch but honestly more rewarding. "The Prelude Birthday and the End of Black November" was just to get my feet wet. I learned not to have long clips or long videos. At 10 mins this is the longest Halo 4 video I will ever make. Much of the syncs were off and there is actually three songs. Prelude 12/21 - A.F.I. / Birthday and the Black November (original mix) - Borgore / The End - My Chemical Romance. Yeah that is a lot of music. The compression rate and upload time was not kind to me on this one. I figured out a better format later that saved me valuable space.

You got to love a T-Bag ending!

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

The game's story takes place during the year 1797, 5 years after the events of Rondo of Blood. The story begins with Richter Belmont's defeat of Count Dracula, mirroring the end of the former game. However, despite Dracula being defeated, Richter vanishes without a trace. Castlevania rises again five years later, and while there are no Belmont's to storm the castle, Alucard, the son of Dracula, awakens from his self-induced sleep, and decides to investigate what transpired during his slumber.
Meanwhile, Maria Renard, Richter's sister-in-law, enters Castlevania herself to search for the missing Richter. She assists Alucard multiple times throughout the game.
There are four separate endings to the story. If a certain sequence of events is followed, Richter is revealed to be under the influence of the dark priest Shaft. After the latter is defeated, an upside-down version of Castlevania, the Inverted Castle, appears from the heavens. This castle contains another entire series of adventures, crowned by the ultimate face-off between Alucard and his revived father, Dracula himself.
The Castlevania series was always in the back of my head. This game changed my childhood. Monumental memories drive me to never get bored with this game. At this point in my life the music I listen to has changed. Dubstep had just found its way into my heart and there was no stopping the two combining. Castlevania has the perfect 2D graphics to merge with Dubstep. The sprites in the game are smooth and the monsters are unique. I set out to show YouTube how special this game was and fulfill my urge to create videos. This is the first video I made from Castlevania: SOTN
I worked hard, so I thought, and brought the story line together with music. Dubstep is tricky and fast.
The second video I made from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was a revamped version of the first. I incorporated more clips at far greater speeds and added more boss fights. The story line is essential to the videos so I won't miss a thing. Being a Dubstep series, naturally I had to use Skrillex. Two videos is enough so I will not be using Skrillex anymore. Also with this series I made the transition to a better Capture Card! Yay! The Hauppauge PVR 2 Gaming Edition is down right SICK! It is the best of the best and I use it all the time. Having it allowed me to learn so much about video editing. It comes with Arcsoft Editing software that is very useful. This video however I used Cyberlink Power Director 11 http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-deluxe/features.html And brother I'm telling you... Awesome!
I learned over my travels of YouTube that having an inviting thumbnail and keyword placement will get you far. Enjoy the video and it is flashy so don't go epileptic on me. Expect more from this series... far more than I have time for.

Ending my Skyrim series... sadly

Yes it was sad to see Skyrim go, but alas, it will be missed. Maybe one day when I get better I will come back and show Skyrim true justice. The final video I made did play out nicely. The effects and speed clips worked to my advantage. This video showed me what I was capable of and where I should continue. All of the Skyrim videos had dragons as the main plot, but I was growing tired of seeing them. So, I branched off a little and explored the game further. I have Hearthfire and Dawnguard Skyrim DLC's. I never got to incorporate them into the videos but i shared a glimpse or two. The music I used is from Rod Zombie, and yes it did get me banned in Sweden.
I am very proud of this video.

Continuing my Skyrim series

Having a Diamond GC500 was nice but they kinda mislead me of a few things. One, it was HD pass-through only, that means it doesn't record in HD. Two, it was composite/component only. I was a little upset at first but it was just to get my feet wet. So by this time I had Skyrim going full blast, Recording all that I could, and Meag's computer doing whatever it wanted to. I managed to produce some weird videos. Them being my baby, I had no idea that they were... weak, lets say weak. This video is prime example of that.
Now before you judge or just say WTF, the premise of this video is when the dragon breaths fire on me, I time shift. Well good idea but it never reached the greatness that my mind wanted.

Another video I made was modeled around the Benny Hill theme song, you know, the British comedy song that they always played while giving chase at high speed. Well again it did not come out the way I envisioned it. None the less it was still satisfactory.
I did the video like I thought British comedians back in Monty Pythons day would make it.

Naaslaarum and Voslaarum

This is where it all started. My passion for music and games are combined. It was a difficult and new thing, editing and recording, but very gratifying. I had the wholesome support of my girlfriend and a slow computer. My first game for this undertaking was Skyrim. I actually used Windows Movie Maker like a noob. Because I used music, there was copyright issues and YouTube made it where it could not be watched on mobile devices. This video was a tremendous experience. Please give it a shot and see how I started.
The Mario underwater song was GENIUS!

The begining

I guess I should start with me and my love of games. Gaming has always been my escape and I have seen some beautiful things in my days. I decided to make my YouTube channel reflect my passion and knowledge of games and music. I wanted to share some of the incredible things I have done. Recently I invested in capture cards. It has changed my life! The true purpose of this blog is to share my videos and the stories behind them. Wondrous as they are to me, they are nothing without the family of YouTube. My name is Joseph Stokes and this is my life's work... video wise.  https://www.youtube.com/user/PWNjoeFTW
